One day, there was a discussion about which television shows would make the worst fanfiction crossovers with Harry Potter. This naturally evolved into a consideration of which shows would make the worst slash fanfiction on their own. It was decided that the 700 Club would make for repulsive slash fanfiction, and yet provide a challenge for the person or persons writing it. Thus, this community was born. Beware! Here be ludicrous, terrible, inane real-person slash, in all its terrible, self-righteous glory.

fic·tion     P   Pronunciation Key  (fkshn)
An imaginative creation or a pretense that does not represent actuality but has been invented.
The act of inventing such a creation or pretense.
A lie.
A literary work whose content is produced by the imagination and is not necessarily based on fact.
The category of literature comprising works of this kind, including novels and short stories.

1. fanfiction
A piece of fiction within a fandom utilizing characters and situations from a pre-existing work including (but not limited to) books, television programs, films, and comic strips.

Typically separated into het (heterosexual), slash (homosexual), and general (aka gen) genres. Often used to play out AU (alternate universe) scenarios and/or various romantic pairings not found in the original work.

Distributed via mailing lists, blogs, and zines. Heavily archived online.

Kate writes fanfiction about what would've happened to Jack and Rose had the Titanic not sunk. Poor Kate.

1. Slash

Generally applies to fanfiction in which two males are in a relationship or together.

The best slash I've ever read was Harry/Draco.

1. RPS

Stands for Real People Slash.

Also see RPF (or Real People Fiction).

A popular although slightly controversial genre of fanfiction involving real life people. Namely actors, musicians, athletes, politicians... etc. Basically anyone who is in the public eye. RPS stories or fics depict a romantic and/or sexual relationship between two members of the same sex.

Different from fanfiction or fanfic which involve fictional characters.

Follows the same general traditions of fictional slash, with separate cliques, fanlistings and archives.

"I just read this amazing Elijah Wood/Dominic Monaghan RPS fic, you have to read it!"
